Job Title: Material Handler (Temp/Temp-to-Hire)

Job Description

This role is responsible for moving large materials throughout the facility and yard using heavy-duty forklifts, straddle trucks, shag trucks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working around large industrial products, be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, and possess strong measurement and inventory skills.

Starting pay is $26.92/hour , with a Monday-Friday schedule and opportunities for long-term employment based on performance and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty forklifts to transport steel structures and materials throughout the production facility and outdoor storage areas.
• Move products from the production line to designated yard storage locations safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload materials using hydraulic lift gates and other material handling equipment.
• Operate straddle trucks, shag trucks, forklifts, and overhead crane systems.
• Utilize a 3x3 magnetic crane to move heavy materials safely.
• Secure loads using banding equipment and hand tools.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and material movement logs.
• Read production paperwork, shipping documents, and inventory reports.
• Perform quality checks and verify measurements before material movement.
• Support shipping, receiving, and yard operations as needed.
• Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean work area.
• Work closely with supervisors and production personnel to keep operations running efficiently.

Required Skills

• Minimum 2+ years of forklift experience in an industrial, manufacturing, shipping, receiving, or warehouse environment.
• Experience operating heavy-duty forklifts and moving oversized materials.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure down to 1/16 inch .
• Strong math skills for measurements, inventory counts, and material verification.
• Experience with inventory tracking and documentation.
• Ability to work safely around large equipment and moving materials.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

• Experience operating:
  • Heavy-duty forklifts
  • Overhead cranes
  • Magnetic cranes
  • Straddle trucks
  • Shag trucks
• Shipping and receiving experience.
• Experience securing loads with banding tools and materials.
• Experience working in manufacturing, steel, utility pole, construction materials, or industrial environments.
• Familiarity with inventory systems and warehouse documentation.

Schedule & Pay

Pay: $26.92/hour

Current Schedule:

• Monday-Friday
• 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Future Schedule (Upon Conversion):

• Potential move to:
  • 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM, or
  • 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Work Environment

This position works both indoors and outdoors in an active manufacturing and storage yard environment. Employees regularly operate large equipment, move oversized materials, maintain inventory records, and coordinate material flow between production and storage areas. Successful candidates will be comfortable working around forklifts, overhead cranes, magnetic lifting equipment, utility poles, and other heavy industrial materials while maintaining a strong focus on safety and accuracy.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valley, NE.

The pay range for this position is $26.92 - $26.92/hr.
