The Client Host - Front of House Associate

You will be a core member of our opening team and ambassador introducing RYE to NYC and ultimately the United States as of August 2026. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for our craft with the use of high-quality ingredients and who can ultimately see themselves growing with us in a highly competitive field.  

General Areas of Responsibility 

Our Client Hosts will welcome our customers into our space and play a key role in setting the tone by ensuring our customers feel accompanied throughout their stay. Beyond advising or selling as well as offering tastings, our Client Hosts are also storytellers who bring our brand to life. RYE isn’t merely sold — it is conveyed.  

Tasks by area in detail 

• Hosting   

• • Take on the role of a host – shaping customer contact consciously and proactively by engaging with customers and providing orientation.  

• • Coordinate closely with the remaining Client Hosts to ensure a smooth flow within the space.  

• • Ensure that every guest is acknowledged and attended to and that waiting times are kept to a minimum. This includes recognizing when guests need assistance and guiding them efficiently.

• Selling & Customer Service 

• • Introduce customers to the full range of offerings (RYE, ON RYE, collaborations, and more), then curate a selection tailored to their needs to deliver a warm and exceptional experience that drives commercial success.  

• • Give insights to the accompanying products in the store and how they complement RYE.  

• • Demonstrate sensitivity to different customer types and their questions, adapting the depth and tone of information without lecturing them.  

• • Handle administrative tasks such as daily billing.  

• • Independent completion of recurring operational tasks.  

• • Operate the cash register, packaging of RYE and ON RYE products, and serving beverages.  

• Storytelling  

• • Act as a storyteller, giving customers a first glimpse into RYE and what makes it unique.  

• • Engage with customers by sharing in-depth knowledge about the product, its ingredients and health benefits and guiding them as they (first) experience RYE.  

• • Communicate the essence of RYE in an accessible way, including confidently addressing questions such as why only one type of loaf is on offer.  

• • Embody our brand as an on-site ambassador, expressed through language, attitude, and a keen eye for detail, while contributing to an elevated in-store experience at RYE.

• Quality Assurance, Order & Warehousing 

• • Compliance with established processes and quality standards.  

• • Make sure that tables, surfaces and any other visible areas remain clean and tidy.  

• • Regularly check the placement and condition of non-food merchandise as well as pantry items to ensure they meet RYE’s aesthetic standards.  

• • Report abnormalities or missing products to the team and GM.  

• • Ongoing evaluation of processes on site and, if necessary, suggestions for improvement.  

• • Responsibility for the maintenance, cleanliness and order in the warehouse area designated for merchandise.  

Availability Requirements

• Availability to work during opening hours from 8am to 7pm - earliest shifts starting at 7:30am and latest ending at 7:30pm.  

• Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays.  

• Based in NYC and legally authorized to work in the United States. We do not sponsor employment visas for this role.  

Pay and Benefits 

• $20/h + tips  

• Paid vacation and sick time off  

• A selection of ON RYE slices on workdays

The Ideal Candidate 

• Has prior high-end retail or hosting experience in the refined culinary space.  

• Has an understanding for hospitality and is highly service-oriented.  

• Is warm and welcoming while also understanding the importance of creating a refined atmosphere.  

• Is open to learning about RYE’s ingredients, production methods, origin and health aspects  

• Has a sensibility for high end craftmanship and contemporary gastronomy.  

• Is well spoken and able to interact clearly with customers in English.  

• Can remain standing for multiple hours on end, is able to lift as well as push a load of 50lbs and reach overhead to handle heavier items.  

• Pays strong attention to detail and cleanliness on all levels including their personal appearance.  

• Is legally authorized to work in the United States. We do not sponsor employment visas for this role.
