ASSABET VALLEY MASTERSINGERS
General Manager
Part-Time Contract | ~12 hrs/week** | $12,000/year | Work-from-home + select on-site dates
The Assabet Valley Mastersingers (AVM) — a beloved choral organization serving the greater Northborough region for nearly five decades — is seeking a General Manager to help lead our day-to-day operations and community engagement. This is a flexible, part-time contract role ideal for someone who is organized, people-oriented, and passionate about the arts.
The GM is the Brand Ambassador of our organization: the person who keeps volunteers motivated, logistics running, and our public face looking its best. If you're someone who thrives on relationships as much as spreadsheets, we'd love to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Facilitate concert and rehearsal venue contracts and oversee concert publicity, including press releases and community calendar listings
• Assist with in-person ticket sales and financial reconciliation
• Support fundraising committees, attend community events, and represent AVM at grantee ceremonies
• Maintain membership, donor, and sponsor databases
• Advise on organizational policies and procedures in partnership with the Operations Chair and Executive Board
• Energize AVM's volunteer corps — recruiting, supporting, and coordinating the best efforts of a diverse group of singers, alumni, and community members
• Serve as Front of House coordinator at three weekend concerts, two choir sings, and one Chambersingers concert each season, plus attend a minimum of one rehearsal per concert cycle
• Report monthly to the Board Chair and Artistic Director on progress and priorities
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You bring strong people skills and solid organizational instincts. Specifically:
• A natural relationship-builder who connects easily with volunteers, board members, venue contacts, and the broader community
• A motivated self-starter who anticipates needs and follows through without being prompted
• Strong written and verbal communication — clear, warm, and professional
• Solid time management, able to juggle multiple priorities across a varied weekly schedule
• Experience with database management, basic financial tracking, and/or nonprofit operations a plus
• Passion for choral music or the performing arts warmly welcomed — but not required
SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT
** This is a part-time contract position averaging approximately 12 hours per week, though actual week-to-week and month-to-month hours vary with the concert calendar. On-site presence is required for:
• Three weekend concerts in MetroWest/Central Massachusetts
• Two choir sings (August and December)
• One Chambersingers’ concert (April)
• Minimum of one Monday evening rehearsal per concert cycle
All other work may be performed remotely.
HOW TO APPLY
Send a cover letter and resume to gmsearch@avmsingers.org . In your cover letter, please tell us what draws you to this kind of work and how your skills would serve a volunteer-driven arts organization. We look forward to hearing from you.
